DESCRIPTION – Lyon Downtown: From Fourvière to the Opera
The historic centre of Lyon is one of the sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage since 1998. In this tour in tour you will be able to discover the spectacular hill of Fourvière and the neighborhood with the same name. To end the tour we will visit the National Opera of Lyon.
Our itinerary begins in the Fourvière hill . We will see the nineteenth century Basilica of Fourvière which once was the center of the Roman town of Lugdunum. Our journey will continue visiting the Gallo-Roman museum by architect Bernard H. Zehrfuss and the archaeological site where the Amphitheatre highlights.
We will keep on the journey through the Old Lyon district, with its characteristic passages or traboules, we will see the XI-XIV century Cathedral, with its astronomical clock.
To finish the tour around the popular Place Bellecour, to the center of the square. We will see the Palais St. Pierre, the Museum rehabilitated by Jean Michel Wilmotte and the magnificent building of the National Opera of Lyon.
