DESCRIPTION – Paris: The Cité De l’architecture et du patrimoine: The Best Of French Architecture
The Architecture and Heritage Center (Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine) was reopened in 2007 and is today the leading French Architectural Institution. Our passage through its three galleries will take us on a spectacular journey from the 11th Century to the near future, from the oldest building methods to ecologically compatible “green architecture”.
We will start our tour by viewing the marvellous series of plaster gates in the Casts Gallery, the first ones of which were ordered by Viollet-le-Duc when he started the collection in 1879.
Then, we will go on to the Contemporary and Modern Architecture Gallery to take a look at its building, urban planning and architectural detail models. We will focus on the architectural revolution of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Our tour will conclude in the spectacular Stained Glass and Mural Gallery, which is a labyrinth. We will look for hidden treasures in the form of sumptuous wall paintings from old French churches and castles…
