DESCRIPTION – Venice: Carlo Scarpa Tour

Nowadays, Venice, the city of the lagoon, is above all the capital of the Biennale which has transformed it all year long into a privileged destination for contemporary art and architecture.

The starting point of our tour will be St. Mark’s Square. From there we will transfer to the Querini Stampalia Foundation by Carlo Scarpa. We will do an internal guided tour of the Querini Stampalia Foundation, centered on the intervention of the architect between 1961 and 1963 on the ground floor and in the courtyard of the palace.

We will carry on the tour by going to Negozio Olivetti, which is about a 7 minutes walk from Querini Stampalia, on St. Mark’s Square. We’ll do a guided tour of the Negozio Olivetti Foundation. The reform designed by Carlo Scarpa and completed in 1958 is an example of how architecture, that of transcendent spaces, can also be found in small localities.

To end the journey and our tour, our last stop will be at the university Ca’Foscari, which is about a 30 minutes walk from San Marcos. There, we’ll be able to see the entrance from the language school. On the way, we will see the stairs of Bovolo and Generali (Campo San Luca) IUAV with entrance of architect Carlo Scarpa.
