Project Description
DOHA
From oil to education
Doha is the capital of Qatar, a small and rich country, thanks to oil and natural gas, in the Persian Gulf. Unlike other Gulf countries, Qatar, through the Qatar Foundation, aims to migrate from an oil economy to a knowledge economy by unlocking human potential. To this end, it systematically invests in education, science and research.
On the Corniche, super contemporary towers and skyscrapers draw the skyline of the city. With the master plan of Arata Isozaki, the City of Education, a complex dedicated to education and research institutions, houses works by renowned architects such as Legoretta and Koolhaas (OMA) . Other relevant works would be the Ieoh Ming Pei Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, the National Museum, the Jean Nouvel project (still under construction), and the more peculiarl, the artificial archipelago La Perla in Qatar.
