DESCRIPTION – Brasilia: Superquadras (Super blocks) and Wings
Brasilia is known all over the world for having applied the principles established by the Athens Charter of 1933. Its construction began in 1956, with the urban planner Lúcio Costa and the main architect Oscar Niemeyer. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. It is today, the only city built in the twentieth century which has received this honor.
One of the most successful urban landscapes and lesser known by the ones who never live in the city is the Pilot Plan. This tour will be focused on the wings of the Pilot Plan, specially dedicated to get to know the Superquadras (Super Blocks), particularly those built in the first two decades of existence of capital, and which determine the urban landscape in harmony with the vegetation.
Enjoy this tour in Brasilia with a professional guide-architect and discover the Super blocks and the Alas (Wings) from the Pilot Plan. Our tours are focused on architecture and urbanism and they are perfect for architecture lovers, experts and professionals as well as groups and student trips. Enjoy with Artchitectours guided visits around the world, made by professional guide-architects who will come along with us throughout the itinerary.
I’m interested in taking a tour (preferably supraquadras) on Wednesday March 17 or 18, but I’m traveling solo. Are there open tours to join?
