DESCRIPTION – Utrecht: Schröder House and University Campus
The Rietvelt Schröder house was built by architect Gerrit Rietveld in 1924. It is a UNESCO heritage site and a must-see in Utretch. Next door there is a building (Erasmuslaan) by the same architect.
In a short walk, the architect will accompany the group to the University Campus. Rem Koolhaas and his OMA team realized the urban plan of Uithof University Campus and built one of its main buildings, the Educatorium, a meeting point for the different faculties that make up the Campus.
Other buildings include the Minnaert Buidling of Neutelings Riedijk Architecten, Wiel Arets Library, the School of Management (Mecanoo), the building of the Ministry of Education Ector Hoogstad Architecten. In addition to the AA Hijmans Van Den Bergh Medical School Erick van Egeraat or BasketBar (NL Architects), we can see the NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) exterior of UN Studio, the WKK Energy Dok Architecten factory or Ronald family room McDonald’s GM Architecten Building.
In addition, we will know different ways to solve the problems of university housing such as the building “Smarties” Marlies Rohmer or “Spaceboxes”, made with containers, by Mart de Jong. Nearby is the nursery “Kleine Kikker” Drost + Van Veen architecten.
