DESCRIPTION – Santiago de Compostela: Architecture and Urbanism

Santiago de Compostela, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, is a city known worldwide. Its Cathedral has undergone pilgrimages for centuries. The weight of history and its reflection in the built heritage, however, has not prevented its evolution into the twenty-first century.

Santiago is a modern city that has opted for contemporary architecture with works by some of the best contemporary architects like Siza, Heyduk or Grassi.

During this guided tour we will learn much more about the historical heritage and its management in the hands of the “Consorcio de Santiago” and we would also visit the most emblematic works of architecture of the past two decades, such as the City of Culture of Galicia, an architectural, cultural and entertainment complex by Peter Eisenman.

Enjoy this guided visit in the famous spanish city of Santiago de Compostela and discover not only the historical heritage but also the more contemporary and modern architecture. Our tours are focused on architecture and urbanism and they are perfect for architecture lovers, experts and professionals as well as groups and student trips. Enjoy with Artchitectours guided visits around the world, made by professional guide-architects who will come along with us throughout the itinerary.
