DESCRIPTION – Rotterdam: Center and Museumpark

Rotterdam distinguished itself as a shipping center at the end of the 17th century and has undergone several transformations throughout history, such as the construction of the canal with access to the North Sea or reconstruction after the Second World War. Rotterdam has become a modern city, laboratory for new architecture. In Rotterdam everything is new, urban planning is perfect for vehicles, bicycles or pedestrians. It is the perfect city to discover by the hand of an architect.

On our tour, we will see bridges as Erasmus Van Berkel & Bos to houses like Kubuswoningen of Piet Blom or Torre De Hoge Heren of Wiel Arets, by offices such as Kop van Zuid Renzo Piano or the theater as Luxor Bolles & Wilson or the Urban Podium Atelier Kempe Thill. And especially unique buildings like the NAI (Institute of Architecture of the Netherlands) J.M.J. Coenen or OMA Kunsthal. Both are inside the Museumpark, with other buildings to highlight as the extension of the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Robbrecht & Daem.

Schouwburgplein, urbanized by A.H. Geuze-West 8 is a strategically located square, surrounded by shops, theaters and offices. It was completed in the late 90s, and we can see the area of the legendary United Coffee by J.J.P.
