Elected in 1986 as the second most important contemporary building in France, the convent of La Tourette in Éveux by the great architect Le Corbusier is, undoubtedly, a must-seen-work for architecture lovers. The project of Le Corbusier, built between 1953 and 1960, is the last major work of the architect in France.

Commissioning of the Dominican Order, the covent seeks harmony between the individual and the collective space. It consists of a hundred students and faculty rooms, study rooms, dining room, library and a chapel, in a reinterpretation of the classic cloister, here impossible because of the slope. In this project we will find all the characteristic elements of the lecorbuserian language.

Our journey begins in the city of Lyon to head to Sainte Marie de la Tourette, in Éveux, about 1 hour away. We will visit the park surrounding the convent where we will be able to observe different perspectives that will help us understanding the implementation of the building, to continue the tour in its interior.
