DESCRIPTION – Marseille: From Saint Charles to la Belle de Mai
On this tour we will see two areas enrolled in the project Euromediterrenée, originally linked to business and major routes of communications of the city of Marseille as well as visiting the area of La Belle de Mai.
We will start the tour at the University of Saint Charles, where there are many different buildings with very different styles, which highlights among them the Library by Fernand Pouillon. Then we will continue our itinerary on the area of Saint-Charles station, built in 1848 by Gustave Desplaces and connected to the center by a monumental staircase from 1925.
After seeing the Student Residence by Battersti and walking towards East, we will approach the old tobacco factory of La Belle de Mai.
We will also see the Interregional Conservation and Restoration Center of the heritage by Castaldi / Levy / Magnan and the magnificent rehabilitation of old industrial buildings to shelter the Municipal Archives (Biaggi / Maurin) and the Museums Reservations of Marseille (Levy / Magnan).
