JAKARTA- CITY CENTER

In the middle of the city of Jakarta there are many contemporary high-rises buildings with large malls. We’ll discover some of them in this guided tour by a professional architect.

Starting at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout with the Selamat Datang Monument, which it’s surrounded by some of the tallest buildings in Indonesia. Really close we find two shopping malls, the Plaza Indonesia and the Grand Indonesia by CallisonRTKL, the site is made up of a series of courtyards and gardens that connect the spaces throughout the project while maintaining the historical integrity of the existing buildings and buffering the project from the city streets.

Then we’ll head to Thamrin Nine by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the tallest office building in Indonesia, completed in 2022. The development is most identifiable through the juxtaposition of two paired geometric towers. Their architectural composition is defined by strong cubic forms and projecting rectangular volumes.

Next to it there’s the UOB Plaza building. Then we’ll head to Wisma 46 Tower (Denton Corker Marshall). The 48 storey office tower is 262m tall and has a modern design with a curved shape like a pen and fully covered by square patterned glass.

Then we’ll walk along Jalan Sudirman to enjoy the very wide sidewalks between tall buildings, stop by to see the futuristic Gelora Bung Karno pedestrian bridge.

We’ll end our tour with a project really close to the last one, the largest Indonesia’s rejuvenated sport complex Gelora Bung Karno and some commercial centre with loads of shops, offices and hotels nearby.
