DESCRIPTION – Barcelona: Gothic Quater, Ribera and Born
The Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is the true center of the old Barcelona. The urban layout of the medieval quarter of Barcelona, enclosed between the walls, is a labyrinth of narrow streets. It has many peaceful squares where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings.
One of the main attractions, right in the heart of the district, is the Cathedral, fine example of gothic architecture. We can still see parts of the old Roman city wall. During the visit, we will discover interesting new projects. Some of the most important were the construction of the Palau de la Musica or the transformation of the former Dominican convent in Santa Caterina market.
The Paseo del Born, where medieval tournaments were held, has gradually changed its use, from Central Market grocery to an area of design and nightlife entertainment.
On this route we will see how it is possible to combine medieval urban fabric with modern buildings, while maintaining the warmth and human scale that characterizes them. Enjoy this city tour guided by a professional architect and explore the famous Gothic Quarter from Barcelona, and also the areas called “la Ribera” and the “el Born”, among other visits.
