DESCRIPTION – Tokyo: Contemporary Architecture

Tokyo is the ultramodern capital of Japan. Most of its buildings are modern and contemporary, which, with its characteristic neon signs and crowded streets, gives the city the appearance of the true city of tomorrow.

We’ll start by one of the newest districts in the city: Azabudai Hills by Heatherwick Studio.

We will then continue our tour seein the tower of the Garden House by Ryue Nishizawa, the Tokyo International Forum by Rafael Viñoly, Shizuoka Press and Kenzo Tange Broadcast Center.

Then we’ll go to Koenji, where the Fujimoto NA House is, and also see the Toyo Ito Za-Koenji Public Theater.

To end our tour we’ll transfer to Shinjuku, exactly at the Shinjuku Higashi station and observe the Sky Makoto Sei Watanabe Building No. 3 (Metabolists), then take the subway which is the direct line to Zoshigaya and see the St. Marys Cathedral by Kenzo Tange, and many other examples of the impressive creativity of the architects who had to adapt to the very high density of the city. All this makes Tokyo an ideal destination for lovers of the most avant-garde buildings.
