DESCRIPTION – New York: Midtown – From Columbus Circle to Lexington

The North part of Midtown next to Central Park is a central business district full of magnificent buildings that shape the skyline of New York. It runs approximately from Bryant Park from Eight Avenue (south of Columbus Circle) and 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas). This neighborhood is one of the most expensive commercial areas of New York, replete of luxury stores and splendid monuments.

Our walk will start in Columbus Circle, the point from which all official distances from New York City are measured, where we will see buildings from Philip Stark, the MAD Museum of Arts and Design by Allied Works Architectureand the Hearst Building by Foster & Partners.

We will walk towards the East to see the new Apple Store by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the Luis Vuitton store byAoki, LVMH Tower by Christian de Portzamparc, the Trump Tower by Der Scutt, Armani Fifth Avenue by Fuksas, MoMa by Yoshio Taniguchi, CBS Building by Eero Saarinen, AT&T Corporate Headquarters by Philip Johnson and John Burgee.

We will walk down Park Avenue to see Lever House by SOM and one of the masterpieces of Modern Architecture: the Seagram Building by Mies van der Rohe. We will end our tour in Lexington to finish with another building by Philip Johnson and John Burgee, the Lipstick Building.
