DESCRIPTION – Cape Town: City Centre

This architecture tour is held in the City Centre, Cape Town‘s bustling commercial and business hub that has an eclectic architecture with various ambiance areas.  Company’s Garden, set amidst the city center, is a tranquil 17th-century park , with monuments and a rose garden.  The area’s gastronomic offerings include a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment locations.

We will start the tour with  an introduction to Cape Town at a viewpoint looking over the city, explaining about the history, urban plan and culture.

After that we will continue with the visit of the city centre. During our walking tour we’ll discover some Art Deco buildings. The movement came to Cape Town in the 1930s. The city’s office buildings, apartment complexes, cinemas, and gas stations have adopted a new style.

We’ll see the old Mutual Building (1940) and other Art Deco buildings on Green square market, like the Market house.

We continue the walking tour with the visit of Bo Kaap district, one of the oldest in the city, with the colourful houses, it has been built for the Cape ‘Malay”.

Also And De Waterkant district, one of Cape Town’s trendiest neighborhoods, with stylish little historic buildings, trendy shops and atmospheric restaurants. Built in the 19th century, the architectural style is a blend of Cape Dutch and Georgian styles, a result of the region’s diverse cultural heritage.
