Barcelona b720 studio Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos has won the award for the best skyscraper of less than 100 meters awarded by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The award-winning project is the Itaim Tower in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, a building of 123 small-format apartments -30 square meters- and 85 meters high topped with a colorful ceramic facade in the vicinity of Faria Lima. Founded in Barcelona in 1997 by Fermín Vázquez and Ana Bassat, b720 is responsible for works such as the City of Justice and the expansion of Lleida-Alguaire Airport.

Torre Itaim is located in a neighborhood currently plunged in a deep transformation, which goes from the traditional fabric of single-family homes in horizontal extension to a network of buildings in height, mainly homes that meet the growing residential demand of a prosperous upper-middle class in the capital of Brazil.

As explained by those responsible for the study on its website, the project “is focused from the perspective of maximizing the two main directions of vision from each apartment, while responding to the requirement of generating an equivalent terrace in each apartment and having common lobbies and elevators overlooking the city. ”Prior to this award, Torre Itaim had already taken other prizes such as the Pini to the best residential building and the International Property Awards in the category of high-level residential development.
