DESCRIPTION – Málaga: Contemporary Architecture

The Andalusian city of Málaga was founded by the Phoenicians, who built a village near the hill where now stands the Alcazaba. The city experienced one of its periods of greatest progress under the control of the Arabs, but it had previously been an important enclave during the Roman Empire.

In the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, in Málaga was born a high bourgeoisie, making it the second industrial center of the country.

Today Málaga is much more than a tourist resort in the Costa del Sol. The different architectural styles have been permeating its urban fabric, and it is easy to find traces of all those periods. Functional rehabilitation and interventions in its heritage in recent years has managed to integrate contemporary architecture in the city.

In our guided tour we will visit architectural works as the Gerencia de Urbanismo, the Congress Palace, the OMAU, the Parque Tecnológico de Andalucía or the Manuel Altoaguirre Library, among others.

Enjoy this tour in the city of Málaga (Spain) and discover its contemporary architecture by visiting some of the most important urban projects. Our tours are focused on architecture and urbanism and they are perfect for architecture lovers, experts and professionals as well as groups and student trips. Enjoy with Artchitectours guided visits around the world, made by professional guide-architects who will come along with us throughout the itinerary.
