BELO HORIZONTE – MODERNISM

Belo Horizonte has the Serra do Curral as a background, and beautiful works of architecture in its urban fabric, either those of European influence or those resultants of Brazilian Modernism movement. It was planned to be a capital of the state of Minas Girais by the architect Aarão Reis. Belo horizonte has now more than two million inhabitants.

In the architectural and patrimonial field the Pampulha Modern whole stands out. Custom designed by President Juscelino Kubitschek and built in the 1940s, it’s a set of buildings located around the artificial lake of Pampulha, with curved volumes and free shapes.
