Valencia

 

Valencia, capital of Valencia and its province, is the third largest city in Spain, and No 21 of the European Union. He is also a city that enjoys a rich architectural and cultural heritage, present in almost all corners of the city.

 

The history and growth of Valencia are always in constant development, as well as its architecture, which reflects the lifestyle of the city and its people. The presence of the Romanesque style in Valencia can be seen clearly in the portals of some of the most emblematic of the city. The streets of Valencia has many examples of neoclassical architecture, most of which are monumental and intellectual nature. A good example of this architectural style is the Old University, noted for its elegance in both its interior and exterior. This also highlights a building with Doric columns and faculty references to education, a facade reminiscent of an ancient temple with statues of marble, and in general, an austere appearance devoid of unnecessary decoration and adornment.

The contemporary architect who has most contributed to the city is undoubtedly Santiago Calatrava.
